Becoming a Great Golfer

“Whether you are a brand new golfer or an experienced golfer, there are going to be good and bad shots.”

Becoming a great golfer can take many years of practice, dedication, and hard work. You must learn the swing technique, course etiquette, rules, and game strategies. Learning to play golf is something that many people see as a challenge, but with the right help, encouragement, and practice, it's easier than you might think!

Most people need help to become a great golfer. For beginners, it's a lot easier to improve your game if you understand that skill in golf is not a matter of being able to hit long drives but rather making the right kind of contact at the right angle to send the ball skittering along the fairway.

Why there is so much failure in Golf

Failure in golf is much more psychological than physical. It's the fear of failure that causes us to make mistakes. Fear of failure is the main reason people don't play to their potential - and why so many are frustrated with the game. Justin explains that the golf ball is the smallest in all sports. So, it is meant for failure. However, there is a lot of success too. There is a lot of versatility and we all have to accept that.

The rule of hitting a ball that you lose

If you hit a golf ball, you hooked from off the tee into the water or lost it under a tree and cannot find it. You lose that ball. If your ball lands in the water or is stuck under a tree, there are special rulings for it.  Justin explains that there is one option when you lose a ball; it's that you have to hit from your previous spot. He says there is a new rule, but not everyone applies it. The rule is that you can drop off the fairway, and you take two strokes at where you think you find it. However, it really depends on the tournament you are playing in.

Tips for golfers who seem frustrated with the game

There are many people that have never played a game of golf in their entire lives or those that played it once and decided to never go back. While golf is a fun, challenging sport that takes some skill, there are some simple steps you can take in order to help be a better player. Justin explains that great players have short memories. He adds that the difference between great and average players is that average players identify themselves with their bad shots and forget the good ones.
