Five to Thrive
The RISE Podcast by Rachel Hollis – Episode Released 1.22.18

Do These 5 Things Every Single Day to Change Your Life – Five to Thrive

1. Drink half your body weight in ounces every single day.
2. Cut out a category of food that you know you shouldn’t be eating for 30 days.
---> Sugar, chips, alcohol, white bread, soda
---> After 30 days, it becomes a habit and a part of your life.
---> No cheating!
3. Staying active every single day for at least 30 minutes a day – our bodies are made to move!
4. Get up an hour earlier and use that hour for yourself.
---> YOU HAVE TIME but you have to carve it out.
---> Be intentional with that time.
5. Write down 10 things you are grateful for that happened THAT DAY.

My Favorite Practice Routines

My Swing Coach, Nick Hodge, PGA Director of Instruction at Arizona Country Club
1 Hour Practice Routine
This routine is specifically designed to develop and refine distance control & touch.

  • 20 minutes of lag putting 20+ feet (or super ladder drill)
  • 20 minutes of ladder chipping (make a line of balls starting at the green and extending back 30-40 yards. Start close to the green with chipping, work your way back eventually morphing into a pitch shot)
  • 15 minutes of multi-distance control with the irons (hit all odd or even irons to a variety of targets. Each club should have a minimum of 4 different distances)
  • 5 minutes of full swing practice.

Next week I’ll share his scoring and recovery practice routine.

Hor D’Oeuvres at a Party
Ina Garten, Bestselling Cookbook Author and TV Personality
Barefoot Contessa: How Easy Is That – Page 15

I really do keep the party menus pretty simple. Your friends have come to see you –not to critique your cooking skills! I’m asked all the time, “How many hors d’oeuvres do I need to make before dinner?” “None!” is my answer. If I’ve planned a really good dinner for friends and it’s going to take more than two hours to prepare, I’ll almost never make hors d’oeuvres……Cocktail food at my house is little silver bowls with salted cashews, ripe cherry tomatoes, vinegary caperberries, or salty potato chips. It’s elegant, it’s delicious, and frankly, no one really wants to fill up on pigs in blankets before a dinner that you’ve worked so hard on.

After a week of indulging, I am looking forward to getting back on track. I made a 5-Day Post Thanksgiving Meal Plan to share with all my challengers and I wanted to share it with you too! I prefer to keep things VERY simple when it comes to multi-day meal prep. There is no need for complicated recipes or ANY recipe for that matter. It’s just about picking out clean food to cook and assemble for 5 days. This took me about 2 hours to prep and cook. I did already have all the containers bought and ready to go.
